VIRTUAL TALK WITH VICTORIA WYETH: ANDREW WYETH’S EARLY WORK
Join Victoria Wyeth as she shares her uniquely personal perspectives on the art of her grandfather, artist Andrew Wyeth (1917-2009).
In January, Victoria will take a deep dive into Andrew Wyeth’s early work, focusing on the decade from 1935 to 1945, leading up to the death of his father, N. C. Wyeth. During these critical formative years, the artist painted still life arrangements in oil in his father’s studio, captured coastal Maine in colorful and loosely painted watercolors, and experimented with the exacting medium of egg tempera. It was also during this time that Wyeth met Betsy James, who would become his wife and muse. Join Victoria as she shares both familiar and never-before-seen images from this fascinating period of Wyeth’s artistic development.
The program will be held on Zoom and participants are invited to ask questions as part of the program. Proceeds support the Brandywine Conservancy & Museum of Art.
This online program is also offered on January 22, 2024.
