Rain or Shine!

The Rehoboth Art League and the City of Rehoboth Beach have partnered again to present the City’s arts festival on Saturday, May 18, from 10am-5pm, in the downtown’s picturesque Grove Park, where artists will showcase and sell their work. Known for its annual events that draw discerning local collectors as well as those vacationing from the Baltimore/Washington, DC, area as well as Philadelphia and New York City, the Rehoboth Art League is proud to present this new event as another way to bring creative minds to coastal Delaware. Held just prior to Memorial Day weekend—the unofficial start of summer for this beach town—the event will fill Rehoboth Beach with tents of original, quality artwork, where RAL member artists can sell their work.

RAFFLE

Waves From A Distant Storm High Resolution Image

Event artist Stephen Brehm has donated an original oil painting, “Waves from a Distant Storm,” to the Rehoboth Art League to help raise funds to support our education and exhibition programs. This 36″ x 36″ oil painting in a custom floater frame is valued at $3,200 and is on display in the Corkran Gallery. Raffle tickets are $5 per ticket or five tickets for $20 and may be purchased at the event’s membership tent or at the front desk of the Corkran Gallery.

The drawing will take place at end-of-day on May 18. To be eligible, ticket holders must be 18 years or older and include name, phone number, and email address on each ticket.

Born in Verdun, France, Stephen Brehm spent his younger years moving with his family to Germany, Italy and Puerto Rico. Later he relocated to the United States and has lived in locations from California to New York, Florida, Arkansas, Mississippi and now Pennsylvania. Through his travels, Stephen developed a deep appreciation for the landscape and seascape and the relationship humans have with these sites in nature. An inspirational setting is paramount in his creation process. Stephen was influenced by artists that had a direct painting method, capturing a gesture or objects with simple yet lively brush strokes, such as Wayne Thiebaud, early Edward Hopper and John Singer Sargeant.

Stephen graduated from Millersville University with a Bachelor of Fine Art degree in painting and figure drawing. He was featured in Philadelphia Style Magazine and has received multiple honors for his talents. Stephen’s paintings reside in homes and businesses from California, Florida, and throughout the northeast. He exhibits extensively at outdoor art shows from Maine to Florida, mid-west, and has exhibited in galleries in Pennsylvania, Maryland and Delaware.
