About

Dancer, composer, and movement educator Sigrid Lauren activates exhibiting artist Hannah Levy’s meticulously crafted stainless steel stilts through a choreographed performance. This collaborative performance is presented in conjunction with the exhibition Moveables which brings together the work of five artists — including Levy — who are rethinking functional design and its intimate relationship to the human body.

About the artists

Hannah Levy is an American sculptor based in New York, NY. She is known for the inventive use of silicone as well as stainless steel in her works. Levy’s sculptures have been exhibited nationally and internationally at the Arts Club of Chicago, Fondazione Coppola, the High Line, MoMA PS1, and the 59th Venice Biennale. exhibited Levy obtained her BFA in 2013 from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, and was a Meisterschüler at the Städelschule in Frankfurt am Main, Germany

Sigrid Lauren is a performance artist based in New York, NY. Her practice includes live performance, sound design, immersive sculpture and collaborative movement workshops. Her performance works have been presented at The Broad Museum, Guggenheim, Andrea Rosen Gallery, SIGNAL, Miami Art Basel and Frieze NYC. Her movement direction & choreography have expanded into collaborations with Mugler, Peter Do, CFGNY, SOPHIE, Drew McDowell amongst others. Sigrid hosts a monthly workshop in NYC entitled, how to throw a body away.

Aliza Russellis a dance artist from Kansas City, Missouri and is currently based in New York. Her longest-standing work as a performer was in Sleep No More NYC, which she joined after graduating from New York University in 2019 with a BFA in Dance. Aliza has since been an ensemble dancer in process for the new musical Gatsby, directed by Rachel Chavkin and choreographed by Sonya Tayeh, set to premiere in 2024. In addition to theater, Aliza has worked as a dancer in Celia Rowlson-Hall’s Last Snow (Nowness), Ziwe (Showtime), as well as in fashion, opening the Brooklyn Museum exhibit Thierry Mugler: Couturissime, and with brands such as Rentrayage and Jane Wade. She has been a part of a variety of creation processes and multidisciplinary events as a dancer, performance artist, choreographic assistant, and collaborator with artists such as Alan Lucien Øyen, Bobbi Jene Smith, Jenn Freeman, Austin Goodwin, Michelle Dorrance, Isabel Lewis, and Akram Khan. Aliza is represented by MSA Agency and is a 2018 Princess Grace Award Recipient in Dance.
