The Realist Art League is thrilled to present REAL FRIENDS, a group exhibition spotlighting contemporary realist artists connected by friendship, mentorship, and a shared dedication to the craft. Taking place in the raw and atmospheric setting of the Gallery at Globe Dye Works, this show highlights the bonds formed through creative community and mutual respect.

REAL FRIENDS features work from a dynamic lineup of artists, including Steven Assael, Michael Ballezzi, Stephen Early, Vanessa Fentonn, Ilana Ellis, Natalie Erdelt, Ashley Fritzshe, Larisa Groht, Melissa Halbrook, Megan Lawlor, Andre Melchor, Christopher Nixon, Nell O’Leary, Rachel Pierson, Kelly Steltz, Darren Kingsley, Peter Van Dyke, Noel Yheaulon., among others. Together, these artists represent a broad spectrum within contemporary realism—from classical figuration and portraiture to rich still lifes and psychological narratives.

What unites these artists is not just a shared approach to representation, but a culture of collaboration, critique, and friendship built over years of painting together, teaching, and showing in each other’s orbits. This exhibition is both a celebration of that bond and a showcase of the vibrant realist movement happening in and around Philadelphia today.
