SOUND TYPE Concert: KING VISION ULTRA

Tuesday, July 2, 8PM

KING VISION ULTRA will perform live at Asian Arts Initiative on July 2 at 8pm in the
third exposition of the SOUND TYPE FESTIVAL. KING VISION ULTRA is a project
by Manhattan-born and Queens-based DJ, producer, and artist GENG PTP. KING
VISION ULTRA debuted in 2017 after a chain of life events led to their further
considering the importance of memory and voice as they relate to remembrance
and spirit—while also recalling one’s own archival practices, primarily through
cassette tape. Much of KING VISION ULTRA’s world addresses memory, the
archive, self-actualization, and trauma. KING VISION ULTRA includes performers
GENG PTP, Dreamcrusher, subt.le, and YATTA.

subt.le (aka brandon king) is a dj/sound-selector, multidisciplinary artist, from the
Atlantic Ocean by way of Hampton Roads VA, who creates installations exploring
African Diasporic identities, honoring his ancestors’ stories through archival and
found materials, sound collages, painting, film, and other forms. subt.le’s practice
generates pathways to acknowledge and alchemize harms committed to disrupt
despair, to equip and strengthen past, present, and future generations. he is a
founding member of Cooperation Jackson, a cooperative network in Jackson
Mississippi and currently serves as Director of Resonate Coop, an international,
open source, music streaming platform cooperative. subt.le is based in NYC and is
currently an MFA candidate at Queens College focusing on Social Practice and
Installation. he is also a member of the New York City based artist collective PTP.
Dreamcrusher is a New York City-based musician and artist, who describes the
project as ‘nihilist queer revolt musik.’ Dreamcrusher’s work is at once personal and
abstract, revealing and antagonistic; performances and recordings shift between
genres while subjecting the characteristic elements—melodies, beats,
instrumentation—to distortion until the point of transformation. Dreamcrusher has
released dozens of recordings with labels such as PTP, Fire Talk, and Corpus, as
well as on Bandcamp and other online platforms. Dreamcrusher is also a member
of the duo Centennial Gardens with King Vision Ultra.
