Mural Arts Philadelphia’s Wall Ball Fundraiser Celebrates 40 Years of Roots & Reimagination
Nation’s Largest Public Art Program will honor The Root’s Tariq “Black Thought” Trotter, Senator Vincent Hughes, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Estelle Richman and Amber Art & Design
WHAT: Mural Arts Philadelphia (“Mural Arts”) will celebrate its 40th Anniversary with the return of its signature fundraiser, Wall Ball. Presented by Citizens, the fundraiser will take on Mural Arts’ year-long theme – Roots & Reimagination – to honor the past and present that have helped make the organization the nation’s largest public art program, and transform the city of Philadelphia into the “Mural Capital of the World.” During the celebration, Mural Arts will honor the following individuals who have made a lasting impact on art and culture in Philadelphia:
- The Roots’ Tariq ‘Black Thought’ Trotter – 2024 Visionary Artists Award Recipient
- Amber Art & Design – 2024 Visionary Artists Award Recipient
- Pennsylvania State Senator Vincent Hughes
- Emmy-winner Sheryl Lee Ralph
- Estelle Richman, Executive Director of the Civic Coalition to Save Lives
Throughout the evening, guests will enjoy live mural making, creative food and decor by Catering By Design, and music by DJ Skeme in a free-flowing and mingling centric atmosphere. The event will be emceed by Nina “Lyrispect” Ball. Other entertainment throughout the evening includes: R&B/Funk/Soul sounds of Ryan Gilfillian and Friends, music by Kyon Williams, a hip-hop performance by TAMEARTZ, the West Powelton Drumline, and live painting by mural artists Akira Gordon, Priscilla Bell, and Cody Stuhltrager, and spray artists Distort and Calo Rosa.
