Organized by Che Gossett, Associate Director of The Center for Research in Feminist, Queer, and Transgender Studies at Penn, in collaboration with the Trans Oral History Project, with support from the Sachs Program for Arts Innovation and sponsorship by the Penn LGBT Center. Free for All!
You are invited to “Trans Art (s) of Abstraction”, on January 25, from 6-8 pm at the Good Hand Room in the Penn LGBT Center. A panel discussion with Queer/Trans art historian David Getsy in conversation with the curator of the exhibition “Transcendent Mess: To Outwit Representation” at Vox Populi Gallery, Lane Timothy Speidel, and the artists from the show; Kim Altomare, Mary Henjes, Mountain Pollen, Chenxi Shao, and Molly Thayer. It is organized by Che Gossett, associate director of the Center for Research in Feminist, Queer, and Trans Studies, in collaboration with the Penn Trans Oral History Project, with support from the Sachs Program for Arts Innovation and sponsorship by the Penn LGBT Center. The panel will also be recorded and live-streamed on Vox Populi’s Instagram.

Please note that Vox Populi is located on the third floor of a historic warehouse building at 319 N. 11th Street and that there are five steps leading from the street-level to the first-floor landing where the passenger elevator picks-up/drops-off. The entry into/out of the elevator is 29-inches wide, so may not accommodate all wheelchairs or motorized chairs. Any individual requiring a ramp to navigate this entryway is encouraged to get in touch with Vox Populi ahead of time to coordinate ramp-access and discuss accessibility details.
